Becoming a Member

Your First Visit

Join us for Sunday services at either 7:30 a.m. or 10 a.m. A member of the church will greet you and is available to answer your questions. Each of our greeters wears a name tag, hands out programs and should be easy to spot. As well, please sign our Visitor register on the table as you enter the church.

How do I become a member?

"I'm already an Episcopalian".

To transfer your membership to St. Cyprian's, contact our church office at 936.639.1253 and provide us with the name of your previous church. We'll handle the rest and will notify you when your letter of transfer has been received.

"I was baptized but not in an Episcopal Church."

In the Episcopal Church, we acknowledge "one baptism for the forgiveness of sins". Once you've been baptized with water in the name of the Trinity, you've been received by adoption into Christ's family, not into a particular denomination. To be listed as a baptized member of St. Cyprian's, bring us a copy of your baptismal certificate or a letter from your former church stating when you were baptized and who baptized you. If you are 12 years or older, we encourage you to consider being confirmed in the Episcopal Church. Confirmation is a mature, public affirmation of faith. St. Cyprian's holds confirmation preparation classes each spring prior to the Bishop's visit.

"I was baptized and confirmed but not in an Episcopal Church."

St. Cyprian's recognizes confirmation from most other denominations. If you've been previously confirmed, you will be "received" into the Episcopal Church by the Bishop on his next visit to St. Cyprian's.

"I've never been baptized."

Get ready for a life-changing celebration! Call the church office and make an appointment to meet with the priest to discuss your baptism or the baptism of a loved one. For more information about becoming a member, contact the Church office at 936.639.1253.
