Outreach

Outreach is an integral part of the St. Cyprian's community. Our parish has a long history of identifying needs in the community and creating ways to address them for the good of the whole. Volunteering through outreach is one of the binding forces that brings us all together.

ANGEL TREE FAMILIES
St. Cyprian’s works with the Angelina County Child Welfare Board to provide Christmas gifts for children in foster care. Volunteers are needed to set up for the Angel Families reception, to check gifts after the reception and to shop for and deliver presents. Contact Mary Ann Terry at 699-2449.

CHRISTIAN INFORMATION AND SERVICE CENTER (CISC) CISC is the largest food bank in Angelina County. Volunteers are needed to pack and hand out food packages, to answer phones and serve as receptionist and to file and interview people. Contact Betty Preston at 634-6086.

COMMUNITY GARDEN
The Community Garden is located off M.L.K. Blvd. in north Lufkin. Volunteers are needed to help purchase seed and fertilizer, till, plant and harvest crops and deliver food to local residents. Both spring and fall gardens are planted. Contact Trish Inselmann at 639-2436.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
Habitat for Humanity is a national non-profit organization whose volunteers work in partnership with low-income families to build new homes. Volunteers are needed for construction work and to provide lunch for workers. Contact Judy Temple at 637-2327.

LOVE, INC
LOVE, INC is a church ministry clearinghouse that works in partnership with CISC. Volunteers are needed to help in the office, answer phones, drive people to medical appointments, yard work and more. Contact Sue Brawley at 639-4352.

SALVATION ARMY
The Salvation Army is an international Christian charity and social services organization that provides the needy with food and lodging. As well, the Salvation Army operates the Adult Day Care Center at 305 Shands Drive. Volunteers are needed in a variety of areas. Contact Cotton Whiddon at 637-3555.

MOSAIC CENTER
Mosaic Center is home of the Christian women’s job corp training program. Women are trained in life skills, computer skills, Christian development and counseled in preparation for entry into the workforce. Volunteers are needed to serve as mentors, to provide training in a variety or areas and to assist with fundraising. mosiaccenter.org 

ST. CYPRIAN’S EPISCOPAL SCHOOL
St. Cyprian’s Episcopal School, located adjacent to the Church, serves students from 3K through 5th grade. Volunteers are needed to tutor students, assist in the teacher workroom, and help with mail outs. www.saintcyprians.org Contact Jennifer McCall at 637-1853.

SEAFARERS’ ORGANIZATION
The first Wednesday in October, members of St. Cyprian’s fill and wrap shoeboxes with toiletries and other items for maritime visitors to the Houston Seafarers Center. Volunteers are needed to assist with set-up and delivery. epicenter.org Contact Traci Eckmann at 634-1682.

COMMUNITY FOOD DRIVE
The Food Drive is community-wide effort to provide needy families with food at Thanksgiving. Volunteers are needed to pack and deliver baskets on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. As well, volunteers are needed in advance to confirm the mailing addresses of those receiving baskets. Contact Bruce Love at 637-7977.

SOUPER SUNDAY                                                                                                               

A special love offering is collected by students in large soup pots on Super Bowl Sunday.  Monies are then donated to the worldwide organization Food for the Poor which works with impoverished.  For more information, contact Suzanne Ratcliff at 936.875.5783.
